Southern Dharma Retreat Center welcomes volunteers!

In exchange for room, board, and an opportunity to participate in scheduled retreat activities on a limited basis, Resident Volunteers support staff operations approximately seven hours each day of service. Most volunteer work involves kitchen assistance before and after meals and extensive kitchen maintenance work.

The minimum stay is one full retreat. The maximum stay is three calendar months.

We host only one Resident Volunteer at any particular time.

While the primary focus of volunteer work at Southern Dharma is supporting the practice of retreat participants, volunteer service offers its own rewards. Many volunteers return year after year simply to "wash the dishes" in Noble Silence.

Volunteers stay in private, rustic one-person cabins for an established term of service. (Volunteer cabins are heated with propane but do not have plumbing or electricity; cabin guests share a common shower and toilet facility.)

Food service is primarily vegan.

Individuals interested in volunteering are encouraged to email southerndharma@earthlink.net to request additional information and application forms. Assignment preference is given to applicants with good references and established personal meditation practices.
