Buddhism and the 12 Steps

Kevin Griffin

August 26 - September 2, 2019

This eight-day retreat for people in recovery will have two four-day segments. Both segments will be held in Noble Silence, but the first will have workshop elements, and the second will not. Each afternoon during the first four days there will be a period of Mindful Dialog workshop exploring various recovery and 12-Step themes. Each evening there will be a group meeting for open sharing.

The second four days will follow a more traditional Insight Meditation retreat format.

Both segments will include meditation instruction and periods of Q&A on meditation practice, as well as an evening dharma talk. Students will also meet with the teacher in small groups.

The emphasis will be on bringing mindfulness to all our activities, whether in formal meditation, movement, speaking, listening, or eating. All recovery paths are welcome, whether Twelve Step, Refuge Recovery, substance, process, or relationship-oriented.

This retreat is open to all who are interested, but people in recovery must be at least three months clean and sober to attend.
