Southern Dharma Benefit – Turning Poison into Medicine: An Insight Meditation At Home Retreat

David Chernikoff

September 25 - 27, 2020

Suffering and confusion can become steppingstones to the realization of our true nature. This online retreat is an invitation to quiet your mind, open your heart, and explore the ways in which the “ten thousand joys and the ten thousand sorrows” become grist for the mill of awakening when met with wisdom and compassion. There will meditation instruction, dharma talks, experiential exercises, and opportunities for discussion. At this retreat, you will learn to turn disheartening “problems” into enlivening “challenges” and to celebrate the blessings of our imperfect lives.

David Chernikoff, M.Div, LCSW, A student of meditation since 1971, David has completed the Community Dharma Leader training at Spirit Rock Meditation Center and has been teaching Insight Meditation since 1988. His teaching has been influenced by senior teachers from the Insight Meditation Society and Spirit Rock, Tibetan teachers he studied with during a 3-year stay in Nepal, and spiritual guides from other contemplative traditions, most notably Ram Dass, Father Thomas Keating, and Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi. David taught meditation and psychology at Naropa University for many years and currently has a private practice as a spiritual counselor and life coach in Boulder. He teaches workshops and retreats throughout the U.S.

This retreat is presented by Southern Dharma Retreat Center in collaboration with Flowering Lotus Meditation.

The program is being offered as a benefit to Southern Dharma Retreat Center and Flowering Lotus Meditation in this time of drastically decreased revenue. Toward this end, three pricing options are offered: $70 (subsidized), $130 (base rate), $200 (supporter). Please choose the option that best fits your ability to give in this time.

A limited number of need-based scholarships are available. Please indicate your interest in a scholarship during the online registration process.
